Races

In this case, Fae refers to any mythical creature. Any fantasy race should be fine with the exception of gods/goddesses. Please make sure your OC’s race matches the island they come from (cam create your own island) or give an explanation about the circumstances of them living elsewhere/what their life is like/how often they travel back to refuel their magic if that is important to them. As combat or magical ability is not as important in this group, feel free to have your character live anywhere they like at cost to some of their magic.

It is also acceptable to play a human should you wish but be aware that, due to their lack of magic, human culture is seen as very foreign to the fae. As a result, they may see humans as an interesting oddity and humans may face some prejudice (to avoid fantasy racism, details regarding roleplaying prejudice are in the rules page).

Fashion

Rococo, Regency, or Victorian fashion or high fantasy in general. Can be historically-inspired rather than historically-accurate. There is lots of wiggle room but please avoid anything modern. Check the pinterest board for ideas.

Social Status

We want you to have plenty of freedom with your character design choices. While this group will primarily focus on high society, that does not mean your character needs to be nobility as all walks of life can be involved. Non-noble OCs will not receive any penalty mechanics-wise but may be subject to prejudice during roleplay.

Examples of noble PCs:

  • Royalty (need approval)

  • Any peerage title: duke, marquess, earl, viscount, baron etc.

  • Relatives of the peerage without a title themselves (children / younger siblings)

  • Any other type of noble title (real world inspiration or entirely fictional) eg. sultan, vizier

Examples of non-noble PCs:

  • New Money / Tycoon / Business Owners

  • Entertainers / Artisans

  • Scribes / Intellectuals / Inventors / Researchers

  • Servants travelling with a noble

  • Teachers / Etiquette Coaches / Dance Masters

  • Escorts / Chaperones

  • Playmates (servants who were raised with noble children / servants who attend events with nobles who have yet to debut)

  • Human who excels at a craft who has been sponsored by a fae to live in the floating isles.

Please think of a reason why your character would be participating in The Season. An aspiring craftsman or scholar may be looking for a patron or a scholarship to enter the Academy of Lumaries. A doctor may be setting up a charity and need support.

Any character of royal birth would need to be approved first as it influences worldbuilding and mechanics. It’s not off the table, just swing it by Ezra first.

If your character is nobility or connected to it, please develop a noble house. Doesn’t have to be too detailed.

Gender and Orientation

Absolutely no limits. Just because this group is historically based doesn’t mean we have to include historical prejudices. Please feel free to make your OC whatever gender and orientation you wish.

Secrets

Please develop at least one secret for your OC as this will create some stakes during RP. It can be as completely inconsequential as “my OC cannot swim”, minor like “does not want to inherit the family business or “sleeps around”, or a massive and scandalous secret like “has committed a major crime” or “is committing identity fraud and is not who they say they are”. This can either be ‘public’ knowledge in your character app or told to a mod in private.

Stats

See [system] for more details.

All members start with 35 points to allocate into any of the following stats:

Charisma >> Inherent Charm

Virtue >> Honesty / Trustworthiness / Persuasion

Glamour >> Lying or Seduction

Pedigree >> Resources

Connections >> Intimidation

Wit >> Intelligence

5 is considered average, 10 is considered prodigious.

Titles

See [system] for more details.

Characters start with one title. More titles can be gained through interaction in the group.

Please complete this character sheet

As well as include some kind of document (google docs, carrd, toyhouse etc.) with a more detailed write up of your character.

An example of the application can be found here: app template

I do not wish to limit member numbers of this group too much. If you complete a full application during the pre-server period and it is appropriate for the group - you should be accepted upon close. However, if the number of applications grows too large and I do not recruit enough mods then I will have to limit numbers based on quality of application, variety, and suitability to group. Examples of unsuitable OCs include: design too modern or a farmer character (nothing against farmers, but they would have to have a major event in their backstory to justify being amongst high society).
